Pattern and Motif

On this pattern I started using a tutorial on how to make an orthogonal pattern from Deke's Techniques and i learned how to use the transform effect extremely well.

On this motif I start off using triangles but decided I needed to have a better center point so i just started to mess around with putting a border around everything and went on from there.

  1. Your pattern is very nice, but the lines all look kind of crooked. I'm not sure if it's an optical illusion or not, but it looks weird to me. Also, the lines of the pattern are a little thin; it doesn't pop as much as it could.

Your motif, on the other hand, is really good! It's bold and strong, and I like how the circles and the polygons work with each other to give off a feeling of something being radiated. The only complaint I might have with it is that it doesn't go all the way to the edges of the artboard, but that's the only complaint.

One last question, though: is the blue the right shade of blue? It's supposed to be Pantone Solid Coated 635 C, but the one you're using looks a lot darker than that.
