The Interview

I thought that this quarter was very interesting. I learned about the 6 shot system and how it is used on a lot of different videos. I also learned thins like not to put wide shots next to each other and how to film a chase without camera movement. I also learned that when you are filming something can go wrong and you might have to retake a shot several times. I do not plan on doing anything else with video. Sometimes it can be fun but it is just something I am not really interested in. Another thing I learned is that working with people you really don't know well can be hard. Also I learned that when we did the interview project it could be hard to get a place that was quite enough so that there wasn't much sound from anything else. I had a lot of fun.

The Chase

I learned how to make it appear as though someone is being chased even though there is no camera movement involved. I will use this to apply more movement into my next project now that I know how to capture movement better in the shot. The collaboration was different because you had to make sure that both people in the chase were doing something at the same time and not at different times. I can improve collaboration on my next video by being more clear about what everyone needs to do and at what time. Basically I just need everyone to have good timing when doing a project like this because I need to make sure this person starts moving once the other person gets to a certain point. The reason I say these things is probably because I was the director for this project.

AB Sequence Video

I learned how to make transitions from one scene to another. I will use this in my next project to effectively show how someone goes from one place to another. I had to collaborate with my group because you have to be very specific with what you say. For example If I wanted Brendan to go faster or slower than I would have to tell him. I also figured out it is easier to get a close up of someone face when they are showing a face they would probably have and not posing for one.
